Adult Opportunities for Growth in Faith &
Catholic Identity |
| |
|
| |
The following opportunities are a regular part of
our parish life and are open to all. |
| |
|
| ● |
Daily Mass: Tuesday-Friday at 8:15 a.m. - Tuesday during the school Year
at 8:15 a.m. with Catholic East School Children. Begin your day with Eucharist
and prayer - join our morning mass community to strengthen and renew
your faith. |
| |
|
| ● |
Basics of Catholicism: Renew your
understanding of the Catholic faith by serving as a sponsor in our RCIA
programs. The RCIA is an in depth presentation of the Catholic
Faith for adults entering the church for the first time. Sponsors
are an integral part of the process and learn right along with the
candidates. Weekly sessions begin after Labor Day and continue
through Easter Season. We generally meet on Sunday morning after
the 9:00 a.m. Mass. |
| |
|
| ● |
Recommit to Your Catholic Faith: Renew and
make a recommitment to your own faith by serving as a sponsor in our
Adult Confirmation program. Classes begin every January and
continue until the Confirmation ceremony on Pentecost Sunday (usually
the first Sunday in June). We meet twice a month on the 2nd and
4th Wednesdays. In each session, candidates and sponsors are
invited to recommit to a different dimension of our Catholic faith
(examples: The Teachings of Jesus, Scripture, Prayer, Social
Justice, Personal Morality). Sessions are held from 7 to 9 p.m. |
| |
|
| ● |
Parish Bible Study: Bible Study groups
form and re-form at our parish as parishioners express interest.
If you would like to join an existing Bible Study group or form a new
one, please contact Monica at the Parish Office. |
| |
|
| ● |
Centering Prayer: Join us every Tuesday
night at 7:00 p.m. for the simple yet powerful experience of
contemplative prayer, such as Fr. Thomas Keating and Fr. Basil
Pennington, and then spend the remaining 20-25 minutes sharing
questions, insights and faith. The prayer method is taught in
every session so you can join in at any time. Every Tuesday year
round in the Church Center. |
| |
|
| ● |
Parish Women's Group: Every second
Saturday morning of the month (year round), spiritually motivated women
of our parish join together to share prayer, topical discussions and
life wisdom. We meet from 9:30 a.m. until noon in the Church
Center. Come every month or come once in awhile. All are
welcome. |
| |
|
| ● |
Lenten Series: Every Lent our parish
highlights our commitment to adult faith formation by setting aside time
to grow together as a community. We change our Sunday morning Mass
schedule (to 8:00 and 10:00 a.m.) to accommodate this special opportunity.
On 4 Sunday Mornings during Lent, we gather after the 10:00 a.m. Mass
for an inspiring speaker and a light brunch. Join us as we deepen
our spirituality. See the calendar for dates. |
| |
|

Theology on Tap: For 4 weeks every summer,
SSPP along with our Riverbank Catholic Parishes, participates in this
outstanding speaker series for young adults (in their 20's and 30's).
Our sessions are held on Monday evenings in the Holy Rosary Church Hall.
Watch for flyers and invitations as the season draws near. |
| |
|
| ● |
Eat, Drink and Be Catholic: Due to our big
turn-outs for Theology on Tap, we continue the spirit in the Fall and
Winter months. This speaker series (EDBC) for young adults takes
place once a month on first Mondays. The evenings include a guest
speaker, discussion and some time for socializing and meeting new
friends. Watch the bulletin for dates and topics. |
| |
|
| ● |
Summer Bible Study: During the summer
months, we offer a Round Robin Bible Study moving from parish to parish
among our Riverbank Catholic Connection churches. Each evening
offers a tour of one of the host churches along with a study and faith
sharing on the Scriptures for the upcoming Sunday. Takes place
every July and August. |
| |
|
| ● |
Summer Saints: Join with us in learning
more about the lives of our ancestors in the faith. Drawing on the
saints whose feast days sprinkle the summer calendar, come learn their
life stories and how they can inspire us today. This is a
round-robin study moving from church to church among our Riverbank
Catholic Connection Parishes. Takes place in June and July every
summer. |
| |

Riverbank Catholic Connection Adult Faith Series:
Every year our Riverbank Catholic Parishes pool our resources to bring
an excellent speaker series to our collaboration. Each year we
select a foundational faith theme (Scripture and Eucharist have been our
past two themes) and then invite nationally acclaimed speakers to come
and share their wisdom. The series in includes 4 talks spread out
over the year (Advent, Winter, Lent and Easter Season). Watch the
bulletin for announcements and flyers. |
| |
|
| ● |
Adult Formation Offerings: We have an
active Adult Formation Committee at Ss. Peter & Paul that plans a
variety of events and opportunities for growth in faith throughout the
year. Watch the bulletin for these different offerings that happen
each year. |
