Ministry/Group Name:
Marriages in Bloom

Commission:
Christian Formation

Mission/Purpose:
To provide personal development and enrichment opportunities for young married couples (up to 10 years). This parish ministry was formed to support couples who are in the early years of a marriage intended to last a lifetime. While married couples both old and new deserve the support (and admiration) of their fellow parishioners, newly married couples have some interests and challenges that set them apart. The purpose of this group is to help young married couples reach their tenth anniversary.

Regular Activities:
Our goal is to provide 4 major activities each year, and we are always interested in input and programming ideas!

  • Day-or-evening workshops: A special speaker is brought in to lead a workshop on an area of interest to young married couples. Recent topics have included communication skills and "everyday spirituality".

  • Study groups: A small group of couples is organized to meet regularly over a period of time to complete a study program. Recent topics have included "Gospel Attitudes", a six-part series devoted to exploring themes raised in the Gospels, and how those can be lived out in everyday life.

  • Special events: A day or evening event with a focus on fun or entertainment. Recent events included a Valentines Day dinner.
  • Spiritual Growth/Benefits of Participating in this Ministry:
Strengthening the bonds between husband, wife, and God. Providing a respite from everyday concerns and an opportunity to focus on your marital relationship, and your relationship with God.

Specific Requirements to Consider if Participating in this Ministry:
While our programming is geared to what might be of interest/concern to young married couples, our activities are open to any and all in committed relationships.
