Ministry/Group Name Pastoral Care Mission/Purpose Eucharistic Ministers to the Homebound are members of the faith community who carry the fortifying and sacramental presence of Christ to those who are not able to attend the parish Eucharist with the faith community. They serve as constant reminders to homebound persons of how much the faith community cares and prays for them. Likewise, they keep the faith community always mindful of its absent brothers and sisters. Regular Activities Eucharistic Ministers visit parishioners on a weekly or monthly basis at a time that is mutually agreed upon. Visits can take place in the home, in an extended care facility or in senior housing. In addition, Ministers are asked to come together at least quarterly for sharing and support in order to keep energized in the ministry. Spiritual Growth/Benefits of Participating in this Ministry Members of this ministry are enriched not only by the prayer they share with homebound people but also by the people themselves who express their needs and gratitude so freely. Reflecting on the fact that it is Christ they carry to others, they realize it is not themselves who bless the homebound members of the parish but Christ Himself who does so.
