Mission/Purpose
East Side Senior Services (ESS) is an ecumenical ministry of East Side churches, under the umbrella of the citywide Interfaith Office. This ministry is geared toward assisting people over the age of 60 to remain independent in their homes when it becomes difficult for them to meet all their routine daily needs on their own.

Regular Activities
Volunteers are networked to visit and provide needed services through the ESS office that is located at the Plymouth Church on Hampshire Avenue.

Spiritual Growth/Benefits of Participating in this Ministry
Volunteers in the ESS ministry find that they grow in their respect for seniors and feel a sense of satisfaction in giving back to people who often have given of themselves all their lives. They also learn about letting go and trusting in God, as evidenced for them by the way elders so graciously receive this ministry.

Specific Requirements to Consider if Participating in this Ministry
Volunteers for this ministry should have a valid drivers' license, abundant people skills and a willingness to work under the supervision and guidance of the ESS Director.
